Narrative

The office is designed to hold difficulty. Material, volumetric and ergonomic decisions work together to both settle and stimulate the people using the building — a call centre and counselling organisation where the day's work is other people's crises.

The plan moves from public to protected: reception, a breakaway staircase, private meeting rooms and a boardroom, then team spaces, the call centre, an eating area and a quiet room at the far end of the sequence.

Documented across plans, sections and details at 1:100 and 1:20.

Key decisions

  • A breakaway staircase that doubles as informal retreat
  • Curtained circular meeting rooms — privacy without heaviness
  • A dedicated quiet room as decompression space for staff
